Declaration on the war in Ukraine

Alan Walker, Chair of IASQ, has written a declaration, expressing “outrage at the unprovoked and inlawful invasion of Ukraine.” Walker notes that “social quality might provide one of the tiny beacons of hope that are essential to help to sustain courage in the midst of darkness.” He ends his statement “in friendship and solidarity with the people of Ukraine, and those in Russia who bravely oppose this unlawful invasion.”

Alan Walker was also co-author and one of the signatories of the original Amsterdam Declaration on Social Quality of 1997. This declaration stated: “We want a European society that understands promoting social justice and participation for all. . . . It’s citizens would be able to fully participate in the lives of their communities and countries and to do so in ways that enhance their well-being, their individual potential and overall societal development.”
