The International Journal on Social Quality has published a special issue (volume 6.2) themed Experiencing Dignity while Accessing Public Services in the Global North and South. This issue is guest edited by Erika Gubrium (Oslo) and Sony Pellissery (Bangalore). The articles report on studies about poverty related problems of shame, and about the prospects of building dignity through ‘delivery interactions’.
This special issue reflects the outcomes of the research project “Poverty and Shame: Perspectives and Practices Concerning Anti-poverty Measures in a Global Context”. The project was funded by the Research Council of Norway. The articles cover research in India, China, Norway, Uganda and the United States.
